Xi’an is the capital of the Shaanxi province in China and is a sub-provincial city. Since the 1990’s the City of Xi’an has emerged as an important cultural, industrial and educational center of the central-northwest region.
The city has facilities for research and development, national security and China’s space exploration program. The economy of Xi’an is ever growing and in today the economy supports the development of a software industry, and the city has become the pioneer in software industry in China. The city produces around 3,000 computer graduates every year. The city has had outstanding contractor enterprises, rich human resources and preferential policies that have paved a solid foundation for Xi’an to becoming a capital for service outsourcing. The Xi’an government uses tax and other incentives to encourage companies and professionals to relocate there.
The city has the largest internet bar in the world with more than 3000 computers. Xi’an is one of the largest educational centers in China, thus it has a large number of undergraduate students who have made online games very popular in the area. The city is now very popular such that it has already hosted worldwide game competitions such as ACON5, CEG2006, and WCG2006.
The city has some major industries such as BYD AUTO a subsidiary of BYD Company Ltd., which is listed in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The company began its operations in 1995 and by 2003 it had become the second largest rechargeable battery producer in the world. The State Development and Reform Commission approved the setting up a National Civil Aerospace Industrial Base in Xi’an. The National Civil Aerospace Industrial Base will be focusing on developing satellites, new materials, energies, IT and other technologies for civil applications.
The city has a reputable agricultural industry such that it was granted the right to host the 2011 World Horticultural Exposition by the Association of International Producers of Horticulture (AIPH) at its 59th congress, held at Brighton, UK on September 4, 2007. The event is expected to bring some millions of visitors to Xi’an as well as create numerous jobs for the people in the city and surrounding cities as well as from other countries.
In conclusion Xi’an offers jobs in nuclear sciences, IT, Electronics, Scientific research, Engineering, Mechanics, Agriculture and other jobs that have a scientific background.
