The Northwest Territories is a territory in Northern Canada. This territory is graced by geographic features such as the Mackenzie River and the canyons of Nahanni. The economy is flooded with sectors such as fishery, mining, and hunting.

The Mining Industry
This is the biggest industrial sectors in NWT’s economy. The mining industry is dominated by diamond mining, gold mining, as well as oil and gas production. Oil and gas production and exploration has increased since the turn of the 21st century. The sectors were one can be employed include: mining, research, science, engineering, construction, transport.

The Hunting Industry
The hunting industry has been responsible for traditional activities which the Aborigines depended on. This industry has provided job opportunities in areas such as hunting animals to collect their fur something that has for years been generating some forex for the province.

The territory enjoys vast geological resources including diamonds, gold, and natural gas, these resources are so vast that they have become a major job creater. Jobs include Engineering, Electricians, Geologists, Chemical Engineers and other job areas that are associated with the mining industry. However, the exploitation of some of these natural resources has raised environmental concerns, including the potential havoc that a spill from tailings ponds could cause to unspoiled wilderness areas. The spoiling of the environment has adverse effects as it will affect natural resources such as forests which will in turn affect animal diversity.

This means that these natural resources need to be properly managed thus another area is opened where job seekers can be employed and this will be as conservationists in both forestry and animal departments. The vast natural resources and relatively low population give province the highest per capita GDP of all provinces or territories in Canada. In fact, its per capita GDP would rank it first in the world if it were considered as an individual country.

The province also has access to the internet so there are a great multitude of opportunities to work from home and avoid the pressures of having to go to the city to work. There are jobs on the internet that include e-mail processing, article writing and web hosting.
