The city of Tehran is the capital city of Iran. Not only is it the largest city in Iran but also the largest city in the Middle East. It is also an administration centre of the province of Tehran. The city has the highest population in South West Asia. Because of the large migration of people into the city, Tehran has a mixture of ethnic and religious groups.

The development of the transport industry has been adversely affected by the conflicts like Iran-Iraq war. However no city in Western Asia has as immense a network of highways as Tehran does. The capital city is the most important centre for education in the country. It graces a total of almost 50 universities and colleges. The oldest universities in Iran are found in the city. There are also religious schools and seminaries for the important religious education that is highly valued in the Islamic community. The city is also home to the largest military academy in the country. The sector requires lecturers, teachers, principals, deans, education officers, bursars, administrators, healthcare, janitors and caterers.

The Imperial Crown Jewels of Persia, which are said to be the largest, most stunning pieces of valuable jewelry ever to be collected in the world. The collection has the largest collections of diamonds, emeralds and rubies, sets of crowns and thrones, numerous tiaras, jewel studded swords and shields amongst other items collected by the various Shahs of the Iranian kingdom. These are displayed at the Central Bank. Many important museums are housed in the city notably the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art which holds pieces from famous artists like Picasso. Curators as well as tour guides are required too. Security is also essential to protect the heritage of Iran.

Most of the industries in Iran are headquartered from Tehran. People can find jobs in different sectors such as the automotive sectors where there is the manufacture of cars and their parts. Other sectors include the manufacture of electrical equipment, weapons for the military, chemicals, sugar, textiles and cement. There is also an oil refinery in the southern part of the city. The Iranian capital is also a major centre for the sale of furniture and carpets.
