Security Resume

As a security person has to have good communication skills and good interpersonal skills as well as good analytical skills. This means that you have to write a resume that portrays those skills, the resume has to be powerful and effective because it is your number one marketing tool to potential employers. The resume has to demonstrate your ability to develop new skills and the ability to make fast and effective decisions that make a positive contribution to the employer.

In general a security person first mandate is to protect a person is to protect the employer’s life and property from damage or loss, when writing the resume you have to choose a suitable title that is related to the job that you are applying for and is related to your job profile. The next step in the resume is to write a clear career objective in the resume.

When writing a security resume it is important to focus on and highlight certain key things such as certifications, areas of expertise, accomplishments and skills. You need to write about your experience in the security field giving details of starting dates and other qualities about yourself that might benefit the employer such as leadership skills, positive work ethics, teamwork, dedication, and self motivation.

Education is the key to success, in the security field you don’t really a lot of education all that you really need is to be reliable and trustworthy. However you can mention in your resume any security training and courses that you have attended and partook in. the next important thing is to have some form of security experience, any experience in a security firm should be well detailed stating employer, dates of employment, salary, details of you daily activities & responsibilities and any achievements or contributions tat you made that benefited the company, in this section of the resume it is important to also include some figures that clearly show hourly progress.

The layout of the resume is very important; make sure that the resume is short, neat and readable. There are some points worth remembering for example when you write your academic and work experience details you have to be written in reverse chronological order starting with the most recent going backwards. The use of action words will make your resume stand out so try and start each sentence with action words like (motivate, delegate, manage, etc). When writing the resume it is advisable to add as many key words as possible because the key words reflect an image of someone who has in depth knowledge of his/her fielded. You can also include in your resume the extra curriculum activities that you enjoy for example if you are a Christian, or you play any sports or belong to a certain social group you can include this in the resume as this can play an important role because some firms have company sports teams so if you can play a sport then you will be an asset both as an employer and as a player.
