Saitama is a prefecture of Japan located on the island of Honshu.

The city is popular amongst tourists and the popular tourist sites are located in the northwestern part of the prefecture in the Chichibu region. This region is very hilly and moderately mountainous and is situated in a rich natural environment. The region is easy to access as it has a good railroad network. Popular sites include the, Chichibu 34 Kannon Sanctuary, Chichibu Shrine, Gyoda City Provincial Museum, Iwatsuki Doll Museum, John Lennon Museum, Kitain Temple, Omiya Bonsai Village, Saitama Super Arena and the Sakitama Fudoki Hill. The tourism sector is very important to the economy of Saitama as it generates lots of revenue as well as creating jobs. Jobs offered in the tourism sector include hotel catering and management, public relations, transport services, security and health services.
The area is in close proximity to the Haneda Tokyo International Airport and Narita International Airport. These air ports offer commuter helicopter flights from Kawajima to Narita Airport a service that makes touring easier for visitors. The airports also provide jobs for engineers, pilots, electronics technicians and other professions that are associated with the aviation industry.

The region in its early years used to make use of water transports as a major mode of transport and today there are still traces of this mode of transport some of it staying as a tourism component. Water transport is also used in Chichibu District and at Tokyo Bay where petroleum tankers move to Wako.
The city has some industries that manufacture products such as plastics, paints and products that are derived from petroleum. The petroleum industry provides jobs in analytical chemistry, geology, plastic technology and polymer science.

The area has a well developed IT sector that has created a huge array of jobs among which include software engineering, graphics designing, web developing, data capturing, information systems and network technicians.
