Jobs in Pilbara and Kimberley

The Pilbara is a region in the north of Western Australia. It’s economy is dominated by mining and petroleum industries these also serve as employment areas in the region. In approximately as much as 9000 people are employed by the iron ore industry.

The Pilbara also has one of the world’s major manganese mines, Woodie Woodie, also contributing to the high employment opportunities in the mining sector. The mining sector geologists, environmental coordinator, miners, administrators, marketing agents, receptionists, accountants and secretaries are job opportunities it can offer. The region also has a significant tourist sector, with well-liked natural attractions. Guides and environmentalists are the jobs the industry has on offer. Also the hotel management staff find employment opportunities in this sector. These include, maids, cooks, butlers, waiters/waitresses, accountants, administrators, receptionists and secretaries.

Kimberley is a region situated in the northern part of Western Australia. It is bordered by The Great Sandy and Tanami Deserts on the south, the Timor Sea on the north and Northern Territory on the south. To the west is the Indian Ocean. Employment is created by the Argyle and Ellendale diamond mines situated in the region which account for a third of the world’s production of diamonds. Employment opportunities are the same as those posed in the iron ore mine in Pilbra mentioned above. Zinc and lead are also mined. The Blina oil field serves as to increase employment opportunities. It is responsible for oil extraction; Agriculture is a flourishing industry in this region with irrigation and fruit growing as the main practices.

There are fruit growers in some of the areas in West Kimberley. Beef cattle are grown in the Kimberley and exported live. Pearling and fishing are thriving industries in the region which employs farmers and fishermen. Approximately four different farms are found in the region. Art is a practice in the region that ha gained popularity resulting in the establishment of a number of art centres, exhibition in the region. Businesses invest in artists and their work. Opportunities are there for upcoming artists as there are valuable in this region.
