Jobs in Newfoundland and Labrador
Newfoundland and Labrador is a province found in the highly developed Canada. This province has three main cities mainly St John’s, Mount Pearl and Corner Brook and the rest of the province is dominated by more than 200 towns. The economy of this province is mostly based on Service Industries like Financial Services and Health Care, Mining Industry, forest-based Industry, Oil Production, Fishery and Manufacturing Industry.
The Mining Industry
Mining contributes 3.5% of the Provincial’s GDP. Jobs for the mining industry are found in the mining towns of Labrador City, Voisey’s Bay, Duck Pond and Buchans.
More than 50% of the iron ore produced in Canada is mined in the Newfoundland and Labrador Province and this is mined in Wabush or Labrador City. The province also produces copper, zinc, silver and gold from Duck Pond and Buchans. Slate and granite are also produced. The Service Industry
The service industry has contributed in excess of $8 billion dollars to the GDP which is in the region of $14 billion (2005). The Oil Production Industry

Jobs available in this field include: Engineering, environmental management and protection, management and executive.
The Tourism and Hospitality Industry
The province also attracts tourists playing a significant role in the economy. The types of jobs available are for: tour guides, environmental management, marketing, construction, hospitality and food service.
The Manufacturing Industry
This industry is dominated by paper manufacture, seafood processing and oil refining. Smaller industries include the food industry and the brewing and beverage production. The job types include: food service, environmental management and protection, marketing, management and executive.
Other jobs can be found in the fishery and aquaculture especially for those for specialize in seal hunting.
