Nanjing is the provincial capital of the Jiangsu Province in the Republic of China. The name can be translated to mean southern capital. The city was once a capital city of China even during some historical eras- six dynasties to be exact. It is the second largest commercial center in China after Shanghai.

Nanjing is the city of culture. As one of the ancient capitals of china, it attracts tourists from all over the world especially intellectuals. During the Tang and Song dynasties, poets gathered in Nanjing to compose poems of the past. The city was also an imperial examination center for the region of Jiangnan, during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The city also has some of the finest and oldest museums in China.
