Jobs in Matara

This is city that was worst hit by the tsunami. The city is another tourist destination that has many tourist facilities. Jobs that one can expect to find in the tourism industry of the city are waiters, chefs, hotel managers (some of the hotels in the area serve international cuisines so they need foreign chefs). There are international hotels that operate within the city. There are a number of hotels that operate at the same time having a casino. Hotels that have casinos have open up other job opportunities for people.

The jobs that people can find at a hotel casino include being a casino dealer, head of security, barman, casino host( their job is to make sure the rich players who frequent the casino play as much as possible and are comfortable while thy do so) some casino’s in the city have translators to bridge th3e communication gap. Agriculture is another sector that provides employment for a lot of people some of the jobs that can be found include farmer, farm laborer, climatologist and truck drivers (they job is to transport inputs and end products).

The sporting industry in the city provides a number of jobs as well especially the cricketing fraternity, the jobs include being a professional cricketer, being a coach, grounds man (job is to prepare the cricket pitch), physiotherapist, fitness trainer , nutritionist and sports commentator. There ar5e other jobs that are created by the sports industry that are indirectly linked to the fraternity but can stand on their on. The administration of the sports clubs, they have jobs such as managers, spokesperson, administrative assistant and treasurer.

It may seem that the tourism sector provides most of the jobs but that is further from the truth as the manufacturing sector has most of the jobs in terms of numbers. Many multinational companies looking for cheap labor go to the Asia country to set up factories and the city is one of those cities that are affected and thus they are a lot of factory workers especially in the textile industry. They Manufacture goods that are going to be worn overseas
