Manager’s Resume
A managers resume has to be very professional because of the professional ethics of this industry, this means that you will have to carry out some research on how to write the resume because the way you present the resume says a lot about you as a potential manager if your resume is not written and presented in a orderly and proper manner then that will alone says a lot you and you capacity to fill the position of a manager.
Management is a broad field which means you can be employed as any of the following production manager, import/export manager, program manager, property manager, service manager, transportation manager, human resources manager.
Experience in the management field is an added advantage so if you have been employed before in any managerial capacity then you have to detail that experience giving details of the dates that you started and finished work at the companies, the salary you earned, and achievements that the firms you worked for were able to benefit from for example you can highlight how you were instrumental in the staffing and training of workers at the firm, how you improved the efficiency at the firm, reduced the cost goods and labor at the firm, carried out research that assisted the company to widen its market, upgraded company equipment and machinery.
In the resume you have to create an image that suites position that you are applying for if you want to be a manager then your resume should portray someone with managerial qualities, for example you state that you are a good motivator, a team leader, good communicator, effective decision maker as these are the characteristics that are desired of a manager. You can research on what employers who are hiring managers are looking from their job descriptions then you can write your resume based on this information this will make your resume more effective because it will be in line with the needs of hirers in the industry.
in the managers resume you have to highlight the your areas of expertise, a manager can be skilled in many areas because management is a very broad field for example a manager can have expertise in retail distribution, budget planning, inventory control, procurement, sales and marketing, P&L management, warehousing, team leadership & mentoring, incentive structures, performance standards, safety and compliance, etc. fig you are skilled in any of these areas then this will be to your advantage.
A manager has to have good communication and interpersonal skills because in their line of business he/she will have to communicate and relate to many different people from different cultural, economic and social backgrounds. Another management skill that is needed is computer skills every good manager has to be computer literate in any of the following Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Windows NT/98/2000 have knowledge of how to plot spreadsheets and manage databases. You will have to highlight your academic achievements such as degrees and majors (BA, MBA). You can also include other personal information about yourself like how you are a very honest, trustworthy, hard working, self motivated person etc.
