Librarian Resume
A resume is a marketing tool for the employment seeker and that’s why we should pay a lot of attention when writing a resume. A librarian’s resume has to be clearly written and it should be written in a direct approach, so that the employer easily understands what your academic and professional qualifications and abilities just taking a glance at your resume.
The resume should be able to bring out only the desired and relevant attributes about your character that will make you the best choice for the job. There are some tips that you should follow when writing your librarian resume, here are some of the examples.
When writing the resume use a title and heading that fit the job you are applying for because you have to realize that the employer is going to be reading hundreds of other peoples resume s so you have to write something that will catch their attention in just one glance. Skills and job title headings are a great way to capture any manager’s attention.
The layout of your resume should attract attention; you should design it in a way that the employer employee quickly becomes hooked on your resume. Keep the resume short and straight to the point, because this reduces the amount to stuff the employer has to read, and since they are so busy this will increase the chances that they will read your resume. The best way to achieve this is to ensure that your resume neatly fits into one or two pages; it should however not be too crammed because it will then look very unattractive and will negatively affect the effectiveness of the resume.
The next thing that you should remember when writing the resume is that although the resume is meant to catch the attention of the employer this does not mean that you have to pay more detail to design because its really the content of your of your resume that matters, give details about your skills, abilities, academic qualifications, work experience as well as current salary you are receiving.
Provide factual information in your resume such as dates, addresses, and any other information that is of importance in your resume; avoid using general statements as this is not very appealing, so you have to be very specific in describing yourself, your duties, and experiences. A resume is a tool that is used to portray a certain image about you to your potential employer so if you want a job as a librarian and you want to strengthen your image as a librarian then you will have to make use of many librarian oriented words in your resume.
Make use of key words that are provided by employers in their job descriptions and then use the job descriptions to highlight the strengths that are in line with that job description. Highlight the degrees and majors that you have attained for example bachelor’s degree in library and information science LIS, or bachelor’s degree in records and archives management.
