Lawyer Resume

Finding a job as a lawyer can be very difficult because there are very few law firms around. A lawyer is someone who has a lot of responsibilities, and as a lawyer you will have to get used to preparation of important documents, you will also be involved in finding and delivering factual information. A lawyer resume has to be straight to the point and bring out only the relevant information clearly, the resume has to show your personality that makes you suited to this profession and it should also clearly demonstrate your expertise as a lawyer and the skills that you have acquired over the years.

As a lawyer you need to have good communication skill since you will be dealing with people all the time, these people come from different social, economic, religious and cultural backgrounds so you have to have good language skills if you speak, read or write any other languages then that will be an added advantage. Besides good communication skills you will also need good interpersonal skills this is the ability to develop a working relationship with each individual client that you represent, and be able to guarantee them success and personal attention to their case.

In the law business nothing matters more than experience, if you have a good track record for example let’s say you have never lost a case then you will stand a better chance of getting a good job in the law business, your experience is the key to getting the job you are looking for. If your resume is going to be effective you have to highlight your experience as much as possible, but don’t put anything that is irrelevant stick to the core topic which law, you should be specific and very factual about your experience stating, dates, address, referees, and achievements in your entire career. As a lawyer the most important thing is to be honest, so don’t lie about anything because a lawyer has to be trustworthy and if you are caught lying in your resume then your chances of ever finding a job again are now slim.

As a lawyer you have to demonstrate in your resume your ability to absorb new information because each new case has its own new facts and details. Another into aspect you need to highlight in your resume is your ability to make effective decisions so if you have any management training that will be to your advantage. As a lawyer you can be in a situation were you will be dealing with a number of cases at the same time so you have to demonstrate in your resume that you are a person who can handle pressure, and is also able to meet the deadlines of court cases.

Education is the key to success, so you definitely have to highlight your academic achievements stating the degrees or majors you attained for example LLB. You should also highlight the other skills that you have like computer literacy, and if you have ever partook in any research work for any organization them will have to highlight this.
