Harbin is the sub-provincial capital of the Heilongjiang Province of China. It is the tenth largest city in Northeast China and is its center for politics, science, communication and culture. The city is renowned for its cold winters and is also called the ‘Ice City’. Exquisite ice sculptures will be on display during the winter season.

The railway density of this city of Harbin is the highest in the country. This may be attributed to the fact that the Harbin Railway-Bureau was the first in China. The Railway Station has one of the three modernized railway networks. The highway system is very advanced. A lot of products are transported by road. The Harbin Taiping International Airport is the most importation nucleus in Northeast China. The is the largest airport in those parts connecting Harbin to cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Xi’an and countries such as Singapore, Japan, Russia and the USA. Jobs in the industry would be for: drivers, pilots, designers, fitters, mechanical engineers, and maintenance, traffic controllers (air, road and rail).

Jobs in the Tourism Industry
This industry is directly linked to the tourism industry and indirectly promotes it. Harbin has a mixture of Manchu, Russian and Jewish culture. Harbin is known as the Oriental St. Petersburg because of it s beautiful and unique architecture. The buildings are influenced by the Russian and European culture. The central street of the city, Zhong Yang Street, is a true museum of the some European architectural styles like the American eateries, Japanese restaurants as well as Russian bakeries.

The winter season is very interesting especially for visitors to the city. The city holds the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, which exhibits ice sculptures. During the festival sculptures of full sized buildings can be viewed. Snow carving can also be seen then. Other activities include skiing and winter swimming. Jobs available: hospitality, catering, hotel personnel like bellboys, cleaners, cooks, tour guides, sales and marketing, sculptors.
