Jobs in Christchurch

The city is the biggest in the south island it is the second largest city in New Zealand. The city’s name was suggested by a parishioner who attended Christ church and it was adopted by the association of the city in the late 1800s.agriculture is the core of the city and thus most of the jobs that can be found in the city are related to the agricultural sector. By this I mean that some of the jobs have some thing to do with the manufacturing and supply of agricultural inputs. The biggest company in the city is PGC Wrightson and it deals with agribusiness.

Some of the companies that are in the city that are involved in the agribusiness are seed development scientist and biology experts are some of the professions that one can expect to find in this company) wool and meat processing. Sheep farms in the city have people who specialize in cutting the wool of the bodies of the sheep. This type of profession in the city has long been pasted on from father to son from generation to generation but that is changing. The dairy farms used to provide work for many professionals especially in the quality and safety professions but this is declining because it is becoming hard to keep on watering the grass in the dry land. Technical expertise (civil and water resources engineers) is needed in the irrigation department of the association of the city.

The wine industry is growing in leaps and bounds and thus wine experts’ and wine tasters are need by the new emerging industry. The deer farming and olivine industry are other places were one can find employment. The steel industry has jobs such as civil engineers, steel workers and the administrative areas of the steel plants have administrative jobs such as accountants, secretaries and administrative assistants. The health sector is always looking for health professionals to work public hospitals. The educational sector , with a a lot of foreigners migrating to the island there is need to teach other syllabi and thus there is need for teachers that are experienced in teaching foreign syllabi.

The technology industries in the city are growing in leaps and bounds and the graduates from the local university are not only inexperienced but they are not enough to fill the position that are coming up constantly. Tourism is another place whether jobs are available in abundance.
