Cagayan is a province of the Philippines in the Cagayan Valley region in Luzon. Tuguegarao city is the capital of Cagayan. Most people in Cagayan are the refugees from Llocos region. The economy of the region is average and mainly depends on agriculture and fishing. Many investments have been made to industrialize the city, and quite successful to large extent. The young generation has a good future, with development of Philippines in every sector.

Tuguegarao City, the capital, is the seat of commerce and trade center. The province has 73 % of the region’s potential fishing area; hence plenty of jobs are available in this field in Cagayan. Many modern equipments and fishing boats are available these days, which has helped to ease the job of fishing.

Agriculture is the main business in Cagayan, hence many jobs and self employment is available in this field. Agricultural products are rice, corn, peanut, beans, and fruits. Livestock products include cattle, hogs, carabaos, and poultry. Woodcraft furniture made of hardwood, rattan, bamboo, and other indigenous materials are also available in the province. Jobs will somehow be generated as the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) regional office intensified the production of seaweeds in the Cagayan valley Region.

During the first quarter of this year, many units of seaweed culture techno demo projects (cage method) were established in seven sites throughout the region in addition to the 74 units already established last year. These techno demo projects form part of the government’s Seaweed Development Program (SDP) aimed to intensify information and transfer technology and services to end users. It should be noted that the country ranks second to China in the production of seaweeds worldwide.

The encouragement of education in Cagayan has helped a lot to improve the literacy rate of the region. Many schools and colleges have been developed in recent years. The people are really interested in learning new things and business strategies. Many Universities are offering the best advanced education in agriculture field. The educational sector offers plenty of opportunities for the talented individuals.

The Cyber Park which is under construction is expected to contribute a lot in reducing the unemployment problem in Cagayan. The park has lot to offer and more than five thousand people in Cagayan are likely to acquire secured job in this project. The project has a complete modern look that includes internet data center with fiber optic systems.

Cagayan, with help of the United States is likely to achieve major success in future. The youth is excited with the modern developments and really happy about the bright future they have in near future.
