Brisbane is the capital of Queensland. It has been ranked as the third most populated city after Sydney and Melbourne and is the second largest city. Its growth is so rapid that it is predicted that it might become the second largest city in Australia.

Before being called Brisbane, it was known as Mian-jin which means a place shaped like a spike. The economy consists of both white and blue collar industries as well as commerce and transport.

This sector plays an essential role in the economy of Brisbane. Jobs available in this sector include: banking, investment, insurance, stock broking, asset management, and credit card management

Jobs in the Public sector
The public sector deals with the delivery of services to the public through social security, urban planning, and national defense. Brisbane is controlled by the local government which is the city council. The city has 26 wards and each ward is headed by a councilor and all the councilors are led by the mayor.
