Biratnagar is the second largest city of Nepal located in the Koshi zone on the southern Tarai belt of Nepal. Biratnagar has the history of giving excellent political leaders than any other part of Nepal. The Biratnagar town is the home of various prime ministers and hence people have a lot of expectation from their leaders. The emerging group of madhesis was a major problem but the recent peace process achieved great success in restoring the peace in Biratnagar.
The Biratnagar Jute mills started in 1936 is the largest and first large scale industry in Nepal. From the past agriculture has been the main source of income for the people of Biratnagar. Also, the fertile land has allowed them to get good results. Also Biratnagar is the fast developing region of Nepal and is considered to be industry power-house of the country. The youth of Biratnagar is really expecting few dramatic turn around and it is quite possible in the near future.

The constant political disturbance and the Madheshi movement had a huge affect on progress of these industries. Recently the government of Nepal has achieved some success in settling things down. The whole of Nepal is well known as a tourist spot. The spectacular sights of the mountains and the wild life of Nepal have always attracted a lot of tourist. Most of the people in Biratnagar are involved in tourism business. Biratnagar is connected to Katmandu by road and air and there are regular flights to Katmandu. Lot of tourists flies to Biratnagar for trekking to mountains such as Kanchanjunga. Also tourists visit Biratnagar on their way to the Himalayan states of Sikkim and Darjeeling in India.
The Indian government has always tried to improve the economic condition in Nepal. Whether it’s a peace process or business field India as a good neighbor always holds an upper hand. Many people in past used to travel across the border in search of jobs but the time has changed now. The Nepal government is seriously thinking of promoting more foreign investments in their country. Many investors from around the world including India are quite interested in setting big projects in Nepal and this is really good news for the young generation!
