Sample Art Resume

When going through most of the search engines looking for this type of resume , you are most likely to be greeted by headings like, the art of writing a resume or résumé writing an art or a science. It is such frustration that I endured that lead me to research manually on the best way to write an art resume and then share it with who ever is in need of the information.

They are three things that always cause confusion to most people who are in the art industry, one, having the skill, two, having the experience and three, being qualified. The bone of contention is which of the three is most wanted by employees? The truth of the matter is that you may have all of those but if your resume is not good then you chances of securing a job In the art industry are not good either.

There are various faces to art and thus first and foremost as an artist you need to define yourself and by that I mean differentiate from the rest of your competition. You have to be specific at to what art form you are into. it is important that you when writing your qualifications to align them to your ability to work with all sorts of artists of different art forms. This is so because artists most people would expect them to be the most flexible and have the ability to collaborate with artist from other art forms.

Achievements and experience should not be left out of the resume but rather include to show where you have been honored for your art and the experience you have gained. You can also include achievements not directly associated with art but can be used as away of furthering you career. There are artist out there who may be starting out and lack experience and are worried about not including any relevant experience. You can always emphasize the strengths that you have, like communication, interpersonal skills and hard working person you are.

To enhance your resume it is advisable that you try and attended as many art exhibitions as an exhibitor and various seminars that may be held in your area and even outside your town. This will give you exposure to what other artists are doing and how you can improve yourself. it also helps to include in your resume the art work that you might have done for companies, for example if you are a song writer the jingle you might have written and if you are a cartoonist , the different characters you have created.

When including works that you made for an individual collector it is important for you to first get permission, from the individual before including the work in your portfolio. The reason being that some collectors are into discreet collecting of art works. Include the different organizations that you are associated with , whether as a volunteer or a member of that organization.
