The city of Adelaide is the state capital of South Australia. It is the fifth largest city in Australia. It lies on the eastern side of the Gulf St Vincent. Adelaide is renowned for its wine. It is also a center for government and commerce.

Adelaide is Australia’s premier wine producing region, producing about 65% of the country’s wine exports. The Barossa Valley is home to vineyards. The viticulture is not only wine producing but also tourist attracting. Jobs in this industry: horticulture, wine tasting, environmental management, sales and marketing, bottling.

A large proportion of the nation’s defense industries are located in Adelaide, approximately 70%.

The electronic manufacturing industry employs more than 10 thousand people. Its revenue has grown by 15% annually since 1990. The electronic systems produced are applicable in numerous sectors such as medical, defense, communication and automotive. Jobs in the sector include: research, engineering, scientist, management, sales and marketing.

Jobs in The media sector
Adelaide is home to the News Corporation which is a global media conglomerate. The corporation produces five newspapers whilst the rest are produced by another company, Fairfax. There are twenty radio stations that serve the city. There are a number of television stations with one having satellite television. There are six hospitals in the state capital and some of which are teaching hospitals or are associated with medical schools. New hospitals are in the construction phases whilst some are being upgraded. Jobs in the industry include nursing, physiotherapy, surgery, general practitioners, dental, specialist doctors, administration, and accounting.

Jobs in The transport sector
Adelaide is located centrally on the mainland. This makes it a strategic transport nucleus for east-west and north-south routes. The Adelaide metro is the main public transport system. It is comprised of a bus service, metropolitan railways and the metropolitan tram. Adelaide International Airport is the newest and most advanced terminal in Australia. The airport was rated as the world’s second best airport in the category of 5-15 million passengers. Jobs available include: drivers (bus, tram and train), pilots, air traffic controllers, road traffic controllers, hosts/hostesses, caterers, management, finance and accounting.
